Qatargas Delivers Key Papers at WGC>> LNG World News

Qatargas presented several key papers and participated in panel discussions and poster sessions at the 25th World Gas Conference (WGC 2012) held from 4 ? 8 June in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.?

Alaa Abu Jbara, Qatargas Chief Operating Officer, Commercial & Shipping participated in the Strategic Panel discussion titled ?The Future of LNG? on 6 June.? The discussions focused mainly on the unprecedented growth of the LNG industry in the last five years and the challenges posed due to the depressed demand in the traditional markets and a surge in supply from unconventional sources.? The potential impact of the rising capital cost on new facilities was also discussed.? Mr. Abujbara is the Chairman of the International Gas Union Programme Committee on LNG as well as a member of the IGU Executive Committee.

In the poster session on 6th June, Bader Hassan Al-Mulla, Senior Cryogenic Engineer presented a poster titled ?Dual-Fuel ME-GI Engine Operation on Large LNG Carriers?, while Neal Wood, Commercial Advisor chaired one of the poster sessions on 5th June.

Also on 5th June, Marcellus Catalano, Senior Commercial Analyst, delivered a paper titled ?The LNG Oversupply that Never Occurred: The Global Consumption of 42 MTA of Qatargas LNG? as part of the session titled ?Enhancing LNG facilities compatibility?.? Azam Al-Mannai, Head of Global Receiving Terminals co-chaired an ?Expert Forum? titled ?LNG operational challenges? on 6th June.

Also representing Qatargas at the conference were Pawandeep Singh, Senior Advanced Process Control Engineer, with a paper titled ?Advanced Process Control Implementation Challenges and Success on Mega LNG Trains? in the session on 7? June titled ?Enhancing efficiency in the LNG value chain?, and Yitbarek Redda, Lead Production and Sales Planner, who delivered a presentation on the same day about the ?Supply Chain Design and Optimization at Qatargas: A Showcase of Industry-Leading Collaboration? as part of the session titled ?New LNG Market Developments?.

During the WGC week, Qatargas Human Resources Manager, Abdulaziz Al-Mannai, was inducted as the new Deputy Chair for the IGU Human Resources Task Force, while Jupiter Ramirez, Head of LNG Marketing (Qatargas 3) secured a seat on the IGU Executive Committee via a vote of the IGU Council members.
