This week's tea comes from Tea & Ginseng, a small Ottawa company that sells their tea online and through local businesses. Theirs is the tea that we sell at Life of Pie, by the cup and in 50 gram bags. I live off this tea while I'm at work, and this week I decided to bring home a bag of Sencha Kyoto Cherry Rose Festival, which I had yet to try.
When first opened this tea has a very strong, almost candy like scent, which mellows nicely after it's been steeped. With most floral flavoured food and drink, I find you get an unpleasant after-taste. Sort of like you've spritzed perfume on your tongue. Not so with this tea. It's very light, more like inhaling deeply in a flower garden. Very pleasant.
I think this is a perfect after dinner tea, or to be had with dessert. If you're in Ottawa, stop in to Life of Pie, say hi, and have a cup!
